A seven-year-old boy from Tennessee rescued his one-year-old sister after their house caught fire on Tuesday, DISRNreports.
Eli Davidson and his parents, both of whom are retired firefighters, woke up during the night to the smell of smoke. The family was horrified to discover that their house was being engulfed in flames.
“[Eli’s father Chris] grabbed the fire extinguisher, trying to buy me time to get the kids, and I grabbed the boys because they were closest to the fire,” said Nichole Davidson, Eli’s mother.
However, as the fire engrossed the living room, Chris and Nichole found themselves unable to reach the toddler’s bedroom. Fortunately Eli was small enough to climb through the window with a boost from his father, allowing him to rescue his baby sister.
“Dad busted the window and then I said, ‘I can’t do it,’ like two times, and then I said, ‘I got her, Dad,'” Eli said in an interview. “And when we went down there I said, ‘I was scared but I didn’t want my sister to die.'”
While the whole family survived the fire unscathed, their home was lost in its entirety. Investigators believe an electrical fire to be the cause of the disaster.
