A new poll from Rasmussen Reports finds that a significant number of voters believe that Joe Biden is putting the “Dem” in “dementia.”
Biden’s constant gaffes and incoherent remarks have long been an obvious point of attack for the Trump campaign. When one reaches an error page on the Trump campaign’s website a photo of Biden displays with the caption “It appears you are as lost as me.”
It certainly isn’t a vote of confidence from the Biden campaign that they appear to be doing all they can to keep him out of the public eye, only granting softball interviews with networks where not a single employee will vote for Trump. The Biden campaign has also been adamant at keeping the number of debates between the two candidates to as few as possible.
Nearly four-out-of-10 voters believe Joe Biden is suffering from dementia. Most voters, including just over half of Democrats, feel it is important for the likely Democratic presidential nominee to publicly address the issue. Thirty-eight percent (38%) of Likely U.S. Voters think Biden is suffering from some form of dementia. Based on what they have seen and read, 48% disagree, but 14% are not sure.
Twenty percent (20%) of voters in his own party think Biden has dementia. But that compares to 66% of Republicans and 30% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
Critics contend that Biden’s frequent gaffes and confusing statements suggest he has dementia. Sixty-one percent (61%) of all voters believe it is important for Biden to address the dementia issue publicly, with 41% who say it is Very Important. Thirty-six percent (36%) say it is not important for Biden to speak out on the issue, including 19% who feel it is Not at All Important. It is important to note that Rasmussen Reports did not define “dementia” in its questions.
Interestingly enough, a respondent’s age correlated strongest with their answer, with senior citizens the most likely to answer that they believe Biden has dementia.
This is the second poll done on the matter of Biden’s mental faculties, and provides more conservative results than the first. A recent Zogby Poll which asked “How likely is it that VP Biden is in the early stages of dementia?” where 55% said “more likely” and 45% said “less likely.”
