Maggie Rogers slams hecklers who sexually harassed her while performing: I was stunned

Maggie Rogers is standing up for herself.
The singer, 25, revealed on Instagram that she was sexually harassed onstage during an Austin show over the weekend by two male hecklers who yelled lewd remarks at her.
“Every night before the ‘alaska’ acoustic encore, i speak about gratitude and growth and change. it’s the most vulnerable part of the set. just me and a guitar before i say goodnight,” Rogers wrote Sunday. “Last night, in the middle of this speech a man yelled ‘take your top off.’ another joined in and yelled ‘you cute though.'”
Rogers said the unwanted advances left her “stunned. Furious. Fuming. Confused. And also – on a really basic level – it really hurt my feelings.”

The singer explained that she works hard to “create a safe space to amplify each other” with the community at her concerts.
“I step on stage every night and give every part of me,” she said, adding, “there is no space for harassment or disrespect or degradation of any kind at my show.”
Rogers got her big break after playing “Alaska” for Pharrell Williams at a New York University masterclass in 2016. Video of his stunned reaction quickly went viral, and she signed with Capitol Records soon after.
She released her debut album “Heard It In a Past Life” in January after serving as a musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” in November 2018.
Rogers concluded her message, “Be kind to each other out there.”
